I represent Jane Chester. I was the wife of Governor Peter Chester. I was born in 1728. We had two children together. We arrived in Pensacola on August 10, 1770. Finding the governor’s house completely unsatisfactory, we promptly rented General Haldimand’s house in town. I was given a land grant of 1,000 acres on Thomas Creek in my own name on July 28, 1772, but I may have spent time at Chesterfield, our plantation on the Amite River. We lost everything after the surrender of Pensacola, of course. I died in England in 1800.
