I represent James McGillivray. I was a resident of West Florida during the British period and a member of the ubiquitous and prosperous McGillivray clan, and like most members of my family, I had deep ties to the local indigenous peoples through trade, blood, or marriage. I was primarily an “Indian trader” to the Choctaw nation. I operated out of the Mobile and Pensacola. After the Revolution I stayed in West Florida and continued trading. I might have stayed in America all the way until 1804, but I died on January 29, 1806 near Inverness in Scotland.
