Henry Lizars

I represent Henry Lizars [also seen as Lizard]. I was a resident of Mobile during the British period of West Florida. I was a planter with land above the Mobile River and I operated a sawmill and lumber yard across from that. Beginning in 1766, I was elected to represent Mobile in the House of Commons for the provincial General Assembly in every session except the last one in 1778. At one point I owed quite a bit of money to my creditors and had to liquidate my assets. I was murdered in 1772 – sources are frustratingly short on details – and that John McGillivray purchased my property.
