I represent Francisco Saavedra de Sangronis, a special agent for the Spanish King Charles III. I was sent to Havana in June of 1780 with the mission to organize and administer Spain’s activities in support of the French and Americans against the British, and especially the efforts of Bernardo de Gálvez to evict the British from the Gulf Coast. In pursuit of this mission I traveled to Mexico, the Caribbean, and West Florida. I effected the provision of reinforcements to Gálvez that ensured his victory at Pensacola. I was well-educated and kept a highly regarded diary of my travels, including a first-hand account of the Battle of Pensacola in spring 1781. (You can learn more about what Pensacola looked like in 1781 and the details of the battle by reading my journal: Journal of Don Francisco Saavedra de Sangronis during the commission which he had in his charge from 25 June 1780 until the 20th of the same month of 1783, edited by Francisco Morales Padrón and published by the University of Florida Press in 1989.)
