Francisco de Bellestre

I represent Francisco de Bellestre. I was a Cadet in the Louisiana Regiment under Gen. Bernardo de Gálvez. I served at Baton Rouge, Mobile, and in the siege of Pensacola. I was single at the time. I was promoted to Captain in 1800. I was born in New Orleans in 1764. In the 1820 Spanish census of Pensacola, I was 56 years old and retired. I shared my household with a woman of mixed race named Nancy Gorman. She was a laundress, but chances were we were living together and husband and wife. Such relationships were not uncommon in Spanish Pensacola.
