I represent Karl von Horn. I was an ensign in the 5th company of the 3rd Waldeck Regiment. The 3rd Waldeck Regiment was hired by the British from Waldeck Prince Frederick Karl Augustus to assist them in fighting the American rebels in the Revolutionary War. The regiment went to North America in 1776. After two years of heavy action they were sent to Pensacola, along with the provincial loyalist forces of Maryland and Pennsylvania. I came with the 1779 recruit class, headed by my father, Lt. Col. Konrad Albrecht von Horn. It took us a year to get from Germany to Pensacola; we arrived in April 1780. I died of illness not long after, on July 19, 1780. I was buried the next day, in a grave in Pensacola now unmarked.
