I represent Joseph Nunn. I was in command of HMS Hound from July 1777 to April 1779. The Hound was a sloop of 14 guns that served in the West Indies and Gulf Coast during the British colonial period. It survived the hurricane of October 1778 and became part of the small naval defense of Pensacola Bay – along with the Mentor and Port Royal – as the Spanish began to close in. During my tenure, the Hound monitored activities of the Spanish in New Orleans, and of smugglers on the Mississippi. We regularly ran between the Gulf of Mexico and Jamaica, as well.
