In 1766 I and two other settlers were granted “500 acres near Stone Point, north of Pensacola Bay about 10 miles from Pensacola Town on the sea side.” This land would have been around Scenic Bluffs near I-10. There was meant to be a homestead and brick kiln, though archaeologists have not located such fixtures. In 1767, I submitted myself to the West Florida General Assembly to be appointed as translator so the French inhabitants of the province could have the laws in their own language. In Jan 1773, I applied for 250 acres on the Mississippi river, for myself and two indentured apprentices in family.
