I represent Blas Ruiz. I was a Spanish sailor taken prisoner by HMS Mentor. The record does not say when or under what circumstances I was captured, but the Mentor took several Spanish vessels as prizes during 1780, before its attention was taken by the invasion of Gálvez‘ forces. I died November 6, 1780 in captivity in Pensacola, likely of illness.
