Antonio Ramon Aguilar

I represent Antonio Ramon Aguilar. I served in the Louisiana Regiment under Gen. Bernardo de Gálvez. I was born in 1747 in Tenerife, Canary Islands. I arrived around 1778 with a group of Canary Islanders, soldiers and their families who came to both reinforce the Spanish troops and potentially settle in the Spanish New World. Gálvez recruited the most promising soldiers for his Gulf Coast campaign and set the rest to farming and guarding the home front. There were eventually 700 of us, with 1600 wives and children. I died on October 20, 1788 in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana.
