1st Spanish period

This characterizes the period of Spanish colonization that began with the first, doomed expedition in 1528 and ended in 1763. When the British took over La Florida at the end of the Seven Year’s War, the Spanish who lived in West Florida sold their land to the British and took everything they could carry with them to Mexico. Only a few inhabitants from this time remained.
