I represent Jane Moore. I was the wife of Alexander Moore, merchant, magistrate and planter in West Florida during the British period. Alexander and I had at least two children: a daughter named Martha and a son named Samuel Phillip. Martha died at 7 months old of flux (severe dysentery) on August 3, 1770. Samuel Phillip was baptized – probably as an infant – on November 16, 1770. He was likely not our only child; when Alexander made a claim to the Crown for property lost in West Florida, he mentioned having a large family.
