I represent John McKay. I was a private in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot, Captain Thomas Hodgson‘s company. The 31st was an infantry company; we joined the garrison in Pensacola in 1765 and we stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. I died of consumption [tuberculosis] on November 18, 1766. I probably still lie in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
