John McCourt

I represent John McCourt. I was stationed in the garrison at Pensacola with His Majesty’s 16th Regiment of Foot. The regiment arrived in the spring of 1770. I was married to Jane McCourt, and we had a son named Joseph. Joseph died on November 8, 1770. He probably still lies in an unmarked grave in Pensacola. There is a John McCourt in the records who is the wife of Bridget. They were parents of George McCourt, baptized on July 8, 1770. This John was in the 16th Regiment as well. It may be that we are one and the same; though the difference in the mothers’ names is puzzling.
