I represent Edward Maxwell. I was a Lt. Colonel and Commander of the 21st Regiment, which was garrisoned at Mobile and Pensacola. We arrived in 1766 and promptly fell victim to the waves of disease that swept over the troops in West Florida. Out of desperation, I created an ersatz quarantine station on Dauphin Island to try to keep the sick away from the well and preserve some troop strength. Later that year, the 21st was summoned by Governor George Johnstone to Pensacola to try to intimidate the Pensacola garrison, the leaders of which were embroiled in a dispute with the Governor over jurisdiction.
