I represent Mathias Matthews. I served in His Majesty’s 16th Regiment of Foot. We left Ireland for Pensacola in 1767. I was married to Rebecca Matthews, and we had a daughter named Christiana. She was baptized as an infant on November 10, 1770, but died on November 16. She probably still lies in an unmarked grave in Pensacola. I was discharged from the Regiment, after we had been to New York and then stationed at Pensacola a second time.
