I represent John Allen Martin. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British period. I was elected to represent Campbelltown in the House of Commons for the 3rd provincial General Assembly in 1769. I wore a few hats in the colony of West Florida; Deputy Clerk of the Court of Pleas, Coroner, and Comptroller of Customs (which post I held for 14 years). During the siege of Pensacola I served as Assistant Engineer before being taken prisoner in May 1781. I went to New York under parole with the rest of the survivors of the siege and I remained there until November of 1783. In my 1784 petition to the Crown for losses, I said I had served the King for 25 years, and was more than 60 years old.
