I represent Martha Hamilton. My husband, James, was stationed in the garrison at Pensacola with His Majesty’s 16th Regiment of Foot, having arrived with the regiment in the spring of 1770. We had a son, John, who died of convulsions in infancy on October 7, 1770. He probably still lies in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
