I represent Michael Goggin. I served in His Majesty’s 16th Regiment of Foot. I was stationed in the garrison at Pensacola having arrived with the regiment in the spring of 1770. The 16th, unfortunately, had just as many problems with illness as the rest of the army companies that came to Pensacola. I died of black scurvy (an advanced form of scurvy that causes severe bruising and tissue death) on November 2, 1770. I probably still lie buried in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
