I represent Francis Downman. I was a lieutenant colonel with the Royal Artillery. In November 1764, I was ordered to Pensacola to take possession from the Spanish, and I remained there until 1771, when I was transferred to St. Augustine. I had an orphan under my care, William Evis. His identity remains a mystery; he died of dysentery on February 3, 1771.
