I represent David Doig. I was a resident of British West Florida. I was the “storekeeper of Indian presents” and provisions in Pensacola. The British crown had to keep a stock of items the indigenous peoples considered valuable, as giving gifts as a token of good faith in negotiations – and as a symbol of continuing alliance – had become a necessity over the years. I had a grant of land on Mulat Bayou.
