I represent Bernardo Difon. I was a Spanish sailor taken prisoner by HMS Mentor. The record does not say which ship I was with when I was captured, but the Mentor took several Spanish vessels as prizes during 1780 and 1781, before its attention was taken by the invasion of Gálvez‘ forces. I died on January 9, 1781 in captivity in Pensacola, likely of illness. I may still lie in an unmarked grave there.
