I represent William Cornish, a lieutenant in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot. The 31st was an infantry regiment stationed at the garrison of Pensacola. We arrived in 1765 and immediately suffered immense losses due to diseases like yellow fever and dysentery. A woman named “Mrs. Cornish” is listed on a roll of Officer’s Ladies who died during the years 1765-1767, during which time there was a yellow fever epidemic. It seems likely that Mrs. Cornish was my wife.
