Valens Stephen Comyn

I represent Valens Stephen Comyn. I was born in London in 1746, the son of Thomas and Eleanor Rogers Comyn. In 1764, I married Mary Wilson and we had at least two children, Thomas and Samuel. I came to West Florida with my brothers, Phillips and Frederick, to handle the business affairs of my father (who stayed in London), but I eventually had land and holdings of my own. I owned a plantation on East Bay near the mouth of the East River, and a five town lots in Pensacola. I became a prominent merchant and was elected to represent Pensacola in the Commons House of Assembly during the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th provincial General Assemblies, spanning from December 1767 to spring of 1770. In the 1770s, I sat on the provincial Council. I died around 1778; my will was probated in April of 1778 with administration of my estate going to my father.
