Edward Combs

I represent Edward Combs. I was the armorer aboard HMS Port Royal. On an 18th-century military vessel like ours, the armorer was responsible for the weaponry – personal weaponry like pistols and swords, but also the cannon and their carriages. The Port Royal was a sloop captured from the French in 1778. It spent 1780 and 1781 patrolling the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. I died in Pensacola on January 17, 1781, no cause of death given. I may still lie in an unmarked grave there.
