Capt. Robert Carkett

Military silhouette

I represent Capt. Robert Carkett. I commanded HMS Lowestoffe from June 1769 to May 1773. I had a plantation of about 170 acres on what is today Mulat Bayou, but I also had a grant in Pensacola. Seeing the needs of the naval vessels that came into Pensacola Harbor, I commandeered some of the lots that had been kept empty in town and turned them into a small boat repair yard, with henhouses and a vegetable garden to resupply the sailors with fresh food.
