Jean-Baptiste-Gérard Dupleix de Cadignan

I represent Jean-Baptiste-Gérard Dupleix de Cadignan. I was a lieutenant colonel of the French army, Agénois Regiment. In 1780 I sailed with M. de Monteil’s squadron, accompanied by the company of chasseurs and 140 fusiliers of the Agénois Regiment, and took part in the siege of Pensacola.” I was born in Condom in 1738. I entered the service in 1754 and saw continuous action on the continent until the Revolutionary War broke out in America. After Pensacola, I went with the Regiment to Yorktown, then to the Caribbean. I died in 1779 at St. Domingue, Colonel of the Regiment.
