I represent Gerard Byrne. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. I came to Pensacola on the ship Success’s Increase, having left from the Port of London during the week of August 7-14, 1774. I was 22 years old at the time, from Kent. I gave my intention in going to West Florida as “to settle.” I was a carpenter and joiner, which in a military town and governmental capital constantly requiring new buildings, would have made me a comfortable living.
