John Rainsford

I represent John Rainsford. I was a resident of West Florida during the British period. I had owned a plantation in South Carolina, but came to West Florida, probably to flee American persecution of Loyalists. I petitioned for land to establish an iron works, saw mill and a brewery. I noted in my 1780 petition that I had brought my son and six enslaved people. I appear to have eventually settled in Mobile.
