I represent William Black. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. In February of 1780 I was identified as “of the ordnance.” On a January 1780 list of payments needed from the Crown I was due money for providing “Indian Keggs” – probably for rum. So, was I an ordnance officer, a storekeeper renting space to the army, or a cooper? Maybe all of the above. West Florida merchants were enterprising folk.
