I represent Abraham Bates, a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. My wife, Mary, accompanied me to West Florida, though the record does not show whether we were settlers or attached to the garrison. In 1765 we were granted Lot 160 in town, on Harcourt Street betewen Charlotte and York (Intendencia between Alcaniz and Florida Blanca today). She died on August 2, 1768 and is buried in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
