I represent Praise Wadman. I was a sergeant in His Majesty’s 16th Regiment of Foot, which left Ireland for Pensacola in 1767. My wife was Elizabeth, and we had at least two daughters: Mary, baptized November 4, 1770; and Maria Anne, baptized December 29, 1770. I was discharged from the Regiment in August 1781 at New Town, Long Island, which is where the survivors of the siege of Pensacola were sent as prisoners of war. The 1790 U.S. Census has us in Philadelphia with eight people in our household.
