I represent Elizabeth Wadman. My husband, Praise, served in His Majesty’s 16th Regiment of Foot, which joined the garrison of Pensacola in 1767. Praise and I had at least two daughters: Mary, baptized November 4, 1770; and Maria Anne, baptized December 29, 1770. Praise was discharged from the Regiment in August 1781 at New Town, Long Island, which is where the survivors of the siege of Pensacola were sent as prisoners of war. The 1790 U.S. Census has us in Philadelphia with eight people in our household.
