I represent Henry Sampson. I arrived in Pensacola with His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot in 1765 as a lieutenant in the role of Quarter Master. On a list of Officers’ Ladies who had died during the period of 1765 to 1767 appears “Mrs. Sampson,” as well as a child of Lt. Sampson. It is likely they both died during the yellow fever epidemic of 1765-66. I was promoted to captain on Christmas Day, 1770.
