Bernard Richardson

I represent Bernard Richardson. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. I was a carpenter from New York, hired to come down to Pensacola to work. As the American rebellion heated up back home, I decided to stay and even put in a petition for a grant of land in March 1776. My name appears on a listing of inhabitants of Pensacola in February 1780. I was identified then as an artificer, or skilled craftsman. Later, on the Spanish accounting of inhabitants of Pensacola after the surrender of the town in May 1781, I was listed as a carpenter.
