I represent Jakob Reuter. I was a private in the 4th Company of the 3rd Waldeck Regiment. I was born in 1748 in Wirmighausen, Waldeck Province. My religion was Evangelical (which, in this context, means “Protestant”), and I stook 5′ 1″ tall – which is admittedly below average for the men in my regiment, but not by much. The 3rd Waldeck Regiment was hired by the British from Waldeck Prince Frederick Karl Augustus to assist them in fighting the American rebels in the Revolutionary War. The regiment reached North America in 1776. After two years of heavy action we were sent to Pensacola, along with the provincial loyalist forces of Maryland and Pennsylvania. I died of illness on February 7, 1780. I probably still lie in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
