I represent Benjamin Porter. I served in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot. The 31st was an infantry regiment stationed at the garrison of Pensacola. We arrived in 1765, and the rest of the regiment stayed (with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769) until it was transferred out of West Florida in 1772. While many diseases swept through the population of Pensacola in the early years of the colony, I died by drowning on August 30 1768. I likely still lie in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
